William Beckett

Last night was probably one of the best nights of my life. I can’t even properly express my feels right now. I have seen The Academy Is… live a million times it feels like and have met William once before last night but nothing compares to last night. It was the first time seeing him after the break up. So I was a little emotional. I didn’t MEAN to be, but come on… the break up shattered my little heart. They were one of my favorite bands. #2 in the top 5! So I legit walked up to him and was all “Real talk, thank you for always making such amazing music. Whether it was with the band or solo. You inspire me so much.” and then went ON to say “I was so heart broken when TAI broke up. I was just confused and sad.” Suddenly he got this look of concern on his face and started explaining WHY they broke up and was try to reassure me that it was for the best and wanted to make sure I was okay with it. ME! He was sweet enough to care about my feels! He just kept saying “I just want you to understand that it was time.” 

It made me feel so much better about it and has now allowed me to accept him as William Beckett the solo artist, a thing I was having a really hard time doing. I needed to see him fly solo and do this thang to really be able to understand and accept it. 

His music is amazing. He puts his soul into every word. For a little bit I forgot that there were only like… 20 people standing around me (it was a REALLY small show!) and got lost in the music. He talked to us through out the entire set BECAUSE the size of the crowd was so small. It was perfect. 

I am so happy to be able to share the experience with one of my favorite people, Lela. The Academy Is… is the reason she and I became friends. Because of us being in the same class at Meridian, and our teacher making us play a game to get to know the other classmates, we would probably never come out of our shells enough TO find out about our mutual interests.

Anyways, the night was amazing, and I am still buzzing on it. Not enough to give me the munchies though! (hahahahaha Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeela!!!) 

Butterflies

Rocking out to Rejects songs because I felt like I was neglecting that playlist on my iPod. I don’t listen to them as much as I used to, but as all of the exciting stuff starts happening, I am starting to get pretty hyped up! Show in exactly 1 month and 2 days. Album in March. Songs leaking here and there. Gah! So fucking stoked on everything right now! 

It’s silly how something this small can make me feel like that 16 year old girl again.

Things change and people grow up… and apart. That is just how life is. But one thing that I pray to god never changes is the way music makes me feel. I hope that the feeling I get the night before my favorite band does anything exciting never changes. It’s those butterflies mostly. If they ever cease to keep me company on the eve of great things, they will be the ones I miss the most. I’m going to bed with my brain a buzzin’ and a smile on my face. First time in a while. 

I am thinking about selling some of my AAR stuff.

I don’t have a lot worth selling anymore because, lets face it. I actually wore the fuck out of most of it. But there are a few things that are still kind of neat that are just gathering dust in a box. I wouldn’t even consider it if I didn’t need the money so bad. 

Something to think about I suppose. 

Decided to take a walk further down memory lane today.

The red “danger” tape was found on the side of the road on the way to the bus stop headed towards Federal Way for the free AAR show that KISS 106.1 was having. That was my first concert, and the day I fell in love with the band. I actually have a picture of myself somewhere with that stuff wrapped around me from that day. September 13th, 2005

The Move Along wristband. If I remember correctly, Stephanie and I got up at like 5am to go all the way to Puyallup, WA where the boys were doing a meet n greet/acoustic set at Walmart before their show in Tacoma, WA that night. We were one of the last people to get wrist bands, which we didn’t even know we needed until we got there. That was the first time I met the band. April 8th, 2006

That white thing is I think a bracelet. Not completely sure. But Nick kicked it off the stage and it nearly hit me during TOURnado in Seattle, WA. I kept it because of the pure hilarity of it all. December 6th, 2006

I have a bunch of little things like this in my memory tub from over the years. Most if not all are only valuable to me and the people who are in on the inside jokes. I am so glad I am a packrat when it comes to sentimental stuff. 

Haven’t done one of these in a while.

Oh lord, there are WAY to many to just pick one. They have been my favorite band for so long! I have gone to so many shows and on so many adventures, and every single one has had a stand out memory. No… I couldn’t choose just one.
